Healing from abuse is a long and arduous journey that no one should have to endure alone. In the face of such trauma, it is crucial to have a strong support system in place to guide you through the process of overcoming the lasting effects of abuse. This is where places like Held By His Hands step in to offer a helping hand and a glimmer of hope for survivors.

I’m not an expert on abuse. I don’t have all the clinical answers or fancy credentials. What I do have… is a story. A story marked by pain, survival, and the slow, sacred work of healing.

My name is Ruth Carroll, and I’ve walked through darkness I never asked for. I’ve carried wounds that didn’t show on the outside. I’ve cried silent tears behind forced smiles, and begged God for just one breath that didn’t hurt.

This space wasn’t born from expertise — it was born from experience. From one healing, broken heart reaching out to another.

If you’re here, I want you to know something deep in your soul: You are not alone. Not in your pain. Not in your questions. Not in the long, quiet ache that sometimes feels too heavy to name.

This is more than a website. It’s a safe place to land — a refuge for the weary, the wounded, and the ones who’ve forgotten what it feels like to simply rest. Every word here comes from a place of compassion, not judgment. Tenderness, not pressure. I don’t have a timeline for your healing. I just want you to know that healing is possible — and you don’t have to do it alone.

Here, shame has no voice. Here, the past doesn’t get the final word. Here, you are seen. You are valued. You are safe.

Whether you’re just beginning to face your story or you’ve been walking this road for years, you are welcome here. Let this be a quiet corner of comfort, a breath of grace, a reminder that even the most shattered stories can be redeemed.

I invite you to explore the resources shared here — reflections, encouragement, tools for healing, and truth rooted in the unshakable love of Jesus. My prayer is that something here will wrap around your heart like a warm blanket, gently whispering, “You’re not forgotten. You matter. And you are worth fighting for.”

With grace and hope,

Ruth Carroll

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
